This free, simple check helps you monitor your blood pressure and get expert advice from a qualified pharmacist. If we spot high readings, we’ll refer you to your GP for further care.

We’ve built this service for people who haven’t been diagnosed with hypertension but could be at risk. Catching it early helps protect your long-term health.

What Does the Service Involve?

Our pharmacy team carries out two types of blood pressure checks, depending on what’s needed:

Clinic Check: A standard blood pressure test done in the pharmacy.

ABPM (Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring): If your initial reading is high, we may give you a monitor to wear at home for 24 hours. This gives a more accurate picture of your blood pressure over time.

A trained pharmacist handles the entire process, which is:

• — Private and confidential
• — Backed by the NHS

If your readings are high, we’ll refer you to your GP with the results for a proper diagnosis and next steps.

Who Can Use This Service?

This free NHS service is open to most adults who may be at risk of high blood pressure. You can have the check if you:

• — Are aged 40 or over and haven’t been diagnosed with hypertension
• — Are aged 35 to 39, and request a check or have a family history (subject to pharmacist’s discretion)
• — Have a referral from your GP for a clinic or ABPM check

You won’t be eligible if:

• — You’re under 40 with no relevant risk factors
• — You already receive regular blood pressure checks (unless referred by your GP)
• — You’re unable to give consent
